Critterpedia: The snakes and spiders identification app that could save lives
7NEWS: From the Eastern brown snake to the funnel-web spider, Australia is home to some of the world’s most venomous creatures. For many people, the exact species of reptile or arachnid may be hard to distinguish. And the thought of Australia’s deadly critters can be especially unnerving to international visitors. Enter Critterpedia, an app created by Queensland couple Murray and Nic Scarce, who were seeking to explain to Nic’s British-born mother that not all Aussie creatures were fatal. Critterpedia, being jointly developed by the CSIRO, will help people identify Australian wildlife, with a focus on our venomous friends, starting with snakes and spiders. Read more.
